Healthkeeperz Volunteer Program

Healthkeeperz is looking for compassionate and dedicated volunteers to join us in our mission of caring for all people for the glory of God.

With your time and talents – and our training and support – you can make a lasting impact. Whether it’s offering companionship, lending a listening ear, or supporting families during life’s most sacred moments, your presence gives the gift of more time together.

What is Volunteering and Why Should I Do It?

Requirements and considerations before applying to volunteer:

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must be able to commit to a minimum of six months of service.
  • Must be dependable and have great communication skills.
  • Must receive a TB skin test annually.
  • Be able to communicate well in English (second language skills are a plus).
  • Processing time for applications can take between 1-2 weeks.
  • Please be aware that we do not accept applications for court-ordered community service hours.

Volunteer Placements:

  • Tuck-in Calls - calls made to inquire about health, supplies, meds and moral support.
  • Companionship - Being able to enjoy the company of a kind and warm carer throughout the week. You can spend as much or as little time with patients as you wish.
  • Respite for Caregivers - Provide short-term relief for primary care givers.
  • Bereavement Mailings - Helping our Social Worker fill out sympathy cards.
  • Administrative Assistance - Help with office work, such as creating Hospice packets.
  • Sending Cards & Delivering Cakes for special occasions - Birthdays.

Becoming a Volunteer:

  • Complete an application which may be emailed to you or picked up from the front desk at the Healthkeeperz Administrative Complex. It must be filled out completely.
  • Complete an in-person interview.
  • Be willing and able to make a commitment to volunteer for a minimum of four hours per month for a minimum of six months.
  • Complete a tuberculosis screening.
  • Complete orientation.

Volunteer vs Internship

An internship is work that you take on in order to learn more about a given profession.

An intern generally works under the tutelage of someone who is knowledgeable in the field and is qualified to give guidance – a one-on-one learning experience.
